Hello World!

Eight weeks. That's my personal answer to the question, "when does running stop sucking and begin to feel good?" I've been running 6 days a week for the last 8 weeks. I was never much of a runner. I can't remember the last time I was able to run a mile without stopping. Last night, I ran 3.1 miles without stopping to walk. I didn't run fast, it wasn't an impressive 5K time. I didn't actually intend to run a full 5K. I just decided to do a slow and steady run instead of my regular intervals. 15 minutes in, I realized that I wasn't tired. I could keep going. And I did. It feels empowering to have accomplished something I didn't think I was capable of. I wonder if I can take this new kind of confidence and apply it to other aspects of my life. Today I rewarded myself with an easy workout day. A 20-minute 2-mile run. It felt so different than a 2 mile run would have felt 8 weeks ago, and that's a great feeling.
